GREENWOOD, La. (AP) — The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says one trucker died and another was injured when one tractor-trailer in a northbound convoy rear-ended another on U.S. 79, and the lead truck ran head-on into a southbound big rig.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says the southbound driver was killed Tuesday. His name will be released after the coroner confirms his identity.

Chadwick says 25-year-old Larry Gatson II of Spearsville was treated for serious injuries and released. She says he will face charges, but they have not been decided yet.

Chadwick says he was in a Frac Tech Solutions convoy and rear-ended the company truck ahead of him, which ran into the southbound lane. Its driver was unhurt.

The highway was closed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
