1 Killed In Shreveport Chase

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Shreveport man was killed and a police officer injured after a chase Saturday morning on Interstate 20.

KSLA reports (http://bit.ly/Pmf4n7 ) police said an officer tried to stop a vehicle shortly before 4 a.m. near the intersection of Cotton and Common streets for a traffic violation. Officers said the driver refused to stop and fled to Interstate 20.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it struck a concrete barrier on the highway, investigators said.

As officers approached, the unidentified suspect attempted to flee, almost striking an officer. Officers then opened fire.

Police said the suspect drove away but the vehicle came to a halt on the shoulder of the highway.

The suspect was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Investigators said one police officer suffered minor injuries.
