WATSON, La. (AP) — Livingston Parish sheriff's deputies say a 15-year-old boy is in custody after bringing a pellet gun, knife and hatchet near Live Oak Middle School and South Live Oak Elementary schools in Watson, prompting lockdowns at both schools.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Lori Steele said in a news release received by The Advocate the teenager, whose name was not released, was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on one count of terrorizing and two counts of illegal carrying of weapons.

Steele says a school system employee saw the 15-year-old riding a bicycle while carrying an air-soft pellet gun, knife and hatchet.

She says the boy never set foot on either campus.

Administrators locked down both schools around 10 a.m. Monday.
