An accident that happened near the Grosse Tete exit going eastbound on I-10 has traffic backed up for miles.

According to an eyewitness report, an 18-wheeler fell sideways. Authorities have been working to clear the debris, but traffic going eastbound is backed up an estimated four miles. Traffic going westbound has been going slow as well.

Earlier in the day, a Lafayette Christian Academy van coming back from a volleyball tournament in Houma overturned after a crash involving the van and an elderly driver happened. According to LCA's facebook page, the accident happened off Highway 90 after the elderly driver got on Highway 90 going the wrong way.

Fortunately, there were no students in the LCA van, and the driver is fine, but the elderly gentleman was hurt very badly. No word yet on the extent of his injuries.
