NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Among convicts granted sentence commutations Thursday by President Barack Obama are two from Louisiana. A White House press release says men from LaPlace and Hahnville each saw their drug-related sentences cut:

— Wallace Bourgeois, Jr., of LaPlace, was sentenced in 2010 to serve 20 years in prison for a conspiracy charge involving crack cocaine and wire fraud. His sentence now will expire on Oct. 27, 2018, if he enrolls in a residential drug program.

— Mervin Spencer, of Hahnville, was sentenced to life for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and distribution of cocaine base. The sentence has been cut to 25 years.
