SCOTT, La. (KPEL) -- It was a deadly Fourth of July holiday for two people traveling on Highway 90 just west of Scott.

State Police Trooper Stephen Hammons said 50-year-old Greg Picard of Scott was driving east on Highway 90 when he crossed the median and crashed into two westbound cars.

The first of those two cars, a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Paul Francis of Lafayette, overturned, ejecting his passenger, 53-year-old Connie Celestine of Lafayette, Hammons said.

Both Francis and Celestine were sent to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, Hammons said.

The driver of the second car, 55-year-old Darleen Richard of Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene. Picard was also killed.

The crash remains under investigation.
