In the first case, a pregnant woman says she woke up in the middle of the night to find her ex, 28-year-old Benjamin Daigle of Opelousas, standing next to her after he allegedly broke in. She says he took her keys and cell phone as she told him to leave, eventually grabbing her as she tried to get her items back. The struggle ended with a hole in the wall and bruises on her body. Officers say Daigle grabbed a bat, using it to keep her back as he allegedly stole a laptop from inside her vehicle. Once he had her laptop and cell phone, she says Daigle then threw her keys in the tall grass and left. She eventually was able find her keys, drive to a local store and call police, who later took Daigle into custody. He faces Home Invasion and Aggravated Burglary charges and a $75,000.00 bond.

In the other case, 22-year-old Logan Brown has been arrested after allegedly stealing a safe to get back money he says he was owed. The victim told St. Landry Sheriff’s deputies that Brown allegedly took the safe from the home on Marks Road while the owner’s sister was in her back bedroom. She says Brown ran with the safe to a neighbor’s home, where he eventually hid it in the back shed. A witness told deputies that Brown said he would take what was in the safe out as payment of a debt owed to him by its owner. Deputies say Brown was arrested despite denying the accusations. He faces a Simple Burglary charge and a $7,500.00 bond.
