MILLINGTON, Tenn. (AP) — Police say a member of the National Guard opened fire at an armory outside a U.S. Navy base in Tennessee, wounding two soldiers before being taken into custody.

Millington Police Chief Rita Stanback says the shooter was apprehended Thursday by other National Guard members. Stanback says the two people shot were also National Guard members.

The two people shot were taken to a hospital. Stanback said at a news conference that their conditions were not immediately known, though the Navy says on its official Twitter account that neither had life-threatening injuries.

A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly, says the gunman was a recruiter who had been relieved of duty.
