The Colorado State University hurricane forecasting team has confirmed their pre-season forecast of 16 named storms for 2011. Team leader, Dr. Phillip Klotzbach says, with no El Nino activity, 2011 should see about 75% more activity that an average season. Colorado State Forecasters says there is a 70% chance of a major
hurricane making landfall somewhere along the US coast. Klotzback says the chances of a major storm hitting Louisiana this year are less than 50-percent. Tropical Storm Emily is already our 5th named storm of the season with the most active portion of the Hurricane Season still ahead. Klotzbach says now is not the time to put off making preparations.
