festival pin

The 2013 official cloisonne’ pin and poster for Festival International de Louisiane is now available at festivalinternational.com. The committee unveiled this year’s design at a Premiere Party at Parc International in Downtown Lafayette Thursday night.

This year’s artwork is entitled “Passion in Blue.” It is a collection of sculptures created by visual artist Fredric O. Daspit who was born in St. Martinville. Daspit earned his B.A. in Art Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and his Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University. After extensive study throughout the United States and abroad, he retired from the UL Lafayette Art and Architecture department. His work has been exhibited at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, Gallery 549 and, most recently, the Abbeville Alliance Center Museum and Art Gallery.

Festival International de Louisiane is a community-based, non-profit arts organization that provides a free family event celebrating the French cultural heritage of southern Louisiana—primarily a combination of French, African, Caribbean, and Hispanic influences. The public is invited to celebrate the 27th year of the festival from April 24th through April 28th in downtown Lafayette. For more information, visit festivalinternational.com or call 232-8086.
