2014 Big Year For Youth Baseball In Bossier City

BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) — The summer of 2014 is shaping up to be a big one for youth baseball in this north Louisianacity.

The Times reports that Bossier City has landed the Dixie Boys and Junior Dixie Boys world series for 2014. The games will be played at Tinsley and Walbrook parks. Also, the newspaper reports that Bossier City may land a third baseball world series — the Dixie Majors — that year.

“We’re excited,” said Robert Kyle, president of Bossier Dixie Baseball. “We think we have great facilities and this would show off the area.”

The Dixie Boys and Junior Dixie Boys world series each involve 12 teams whose players, coaches and supporters stay at local hotels, dine at local restaurants and shop at local retailers for five to seven days.
