BATON ROUGE – Today, Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols announced that Louisiana ended fiscal year 2014 with a $178.5 million surplus.

“This is good news for the people of Louisiana.” said Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols. “The next step is working with the Legislature to create a fiscally responsible plan for this surplus. Health care and higher education are two of our top priorities.”

The Office of Planning and Budget is required to provide a budget status report to the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget (JLCB) that reflects the State General Fund balance.  That report will be presented at the next JLCB meeting Friday, October 17.
