Improvements have been made to the track and stables at Evangeline Downs in time for the 2016 season. Two new starting gates have been installed at a cost of $250,000 along with 24 new walking wheels.

Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye was on hand today at the Thoroughbred luncheon and said,

The improvements that have been made at this track along with an updated stakes schedule that includes 26 stake races totaling over $2 million in purses really shows just how much Boyd Gaming and Evangeline Downs care about their racing product.

In addition to the appointment of Ashby Pettigrew as Vice President and General Manager, Ned Goutierrez was appointed Stall Superintendent and Randall Leger is the new Track Superintendent.

The 2016 season kicks off Wednesday, April 6, 2016 with post time at 5:50 pm. The season includes a four evening a week schedule, Wednesday through Saturday concluding on Saturday Augsut 27, 2016.
