K-9 In St. Martin Parish Dies Of Heat Stroke

Police in St. Martin Parish mourn the loss of one of their own, a K-9 named Hatos. Major Ginny Higgins says the K-9 was lost in the line of duty while tracking down two inmates from the St. Martin Parish Juvenile Detention Center who had escaped Saturday morning. The pair were eventually caught just hours later but not before Hatos succumbed to a heat stroke. Higgins says Hatos had been a valuable member of the Sheriff's Office for the past year.
