SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Three members of a LifeAir Rescue suffered minor injuries Saturday when their helicopter crashed during a test flight near the Shreveport Downtown Airport.

Shreveport Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Angie Willhite says the accident was reported about 12:49 p.m. in a field behind Metro Aviation.

Willhite says Life Air was making a test flight in a Eurocopter and shortly after takeoff the crew experienced mechanical problems which led to the crash.

Metro Aviation owns the aircraft and rents it to Life Air Rescue. It crashed near Metro Aviation's headquarters, where it was undergoing routine maintenance.

Fire Chief Louis Johnson says the pilot and two mechanics were taken to Willis-Knighton Hospital with minor injuries. Their conditions were not available.

The Federal Aviation Administration and Metro Aviation are investigating.
