Three Thursday night games involving Acadiana area schools kickoff the fifth week of the 2016 high school football schedule.

The three games are listed below:

Highland Baptist at Lafayette Christian Academy:

Highland Baptist is 0-3, overall, and 0-1 in District 7-1A play, but have played their best game of the year last week, in a 44-39 setback to Vermilion Catholic.

Lafayette Christian Academy, who is tied for 6th in the latest LSWA Class A poll, is 3-1 overall, and 1-0 in district play, after an exciting 46-42 win over Central Catholic (Morgan City) last Thursday.

Opelousas Catholic at Sacred Heart (Ville Platte):

This looks to be an outstanding 5-2A contest.

Opelousas Catholic is 3-1, overall, and 0-1 in district play, following a 44-12 loss to top-ranked Notre Dame last week, while Sacred Heart stayed unbeaten last week, following a 32-16 victory over Jeanerette.

District 5-2A is a brutal district, and these two will be jockeying a spot in the standings, as well as critical power points.

Centerville at Central Catholic (Morgan City):

Both teams are 1-3, overall, as well as 0-1 in District 7-1A play, but both are probably better than their records would indicate.

Centerville is averaging 31.0 points-per-game, while Central Catholic is averaging 30.0 ppg.

There could be a lot of fireworks in this one!
