The ban on smoking in bars and casinos has been a issue on the lips of many for years, and the Alexandria city council will be voting on it today. Some proprietors worry that their business will suffer if patrons aren't allowed to smoke on the premises. Carrie Broussard, with the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco Free Living says that's been proven NOT to be the case. In particular some are opposed to the ordinance, such as Chris Young, a lawyer for the Louisiana Association of Beverage Alcohol Licensees. He says it should be up to the owners, not the government.
