BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities have arrested five suspects, including two employees of the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court's Office, on charges stemming from the theft of cocaine from an evidence vault in the office.

Police records accuse the two court employees, 30-year-old William Bates Colvin and 55-year-old Debra Vicknair Bell, of recruiting others, including Bell's son, to sell some of the stolen cocaine.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/UI3Iu0 ) that Colvin, whose mother is state District Judge Kay Bates, remained jailed Friday on theft and drug charges. Colvin allegedly told investigators he stole more than 15 pounds of cocaine from the vault in October.

Bell was freed on $30,000 bond after being booked into jail on related charges. Her son, Colt Bell, and two other suspects were booked on cocaine distribution charges.
