5 Make Zachary Superintendent Short List

ZACHARY, La. (AP) — The Zachary Community School Board has voted to invite five applicants for the district superintendent’s post to attend the first round of interviews, scheduled Sept. 25 and Sept. 26.

On Thursday, the board members chose to interview five after first indicating in writing whether or not they wanted to interview each of the 11 applicants. The five selected each received votes from all nine board members.

Warren Drake, the district’s first paid superintendent, retired Sept. 4 and took a job with the state Education Department.

The Advocate reports those to be interviewed include: Michelle Clayton, of Zachary; Scott Devillier, of Oscar; Patrick Jenkins, principal of the Port Hudson Career Academy; Alonzo Luce, of Gonzales; and Phillip Burchfield, superintendent of Clinton Public Schools in Hinds County, Miss.
