BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 37-year-old man has been hospitalized after he was attacked and set on fire over the weekend, allegedly by a group of teens.

WAFB-TV reports Baton Rouge Police were called to a hospital around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and the victim told officers a group of teenagers jumped him as he walked through an alley.

Capt. Don Coppola says the victim told investigators one of the juveniles asked for a cigarette, and when he said he didn't have one, the teens beat him unconscious. Investigators say the teens allegedly stole some change from his pocket and a cigarette lighter.

The victim says he awoke to find his pants on fire. He extinguished the fire and got help.
