We all want to eat healthier, but let's be realistic, the food in south Louisiana is just too good to pass up! MSN Lifestyle has come up with a list of 50 foods that we should never eat again, for various reasons. I'll admit, I was quite dismayed to see that I love most of them, and it would be so hard to give them up. We've cataloged 25 below, but be sure to check out the whole list, and make your own judgement about what to cut out.

 

  • Soft Drinks - contain sugar, phosphoric acid, and caffeine
  • White Sandwich Bread - extremely high glycemic index
  • Chips - high fat content
  • Sugar - directly linked to diabetes
  • Canned Soup - high levels of sodium
  • Cereal Bars - full of sugar and fat
  • Processed Meats - high amounts of fat and nitrates
  • Doughnuts - full of sugar and fat, and cooked in oil
  • Artificial Sugars - leads to cardiovascular disease and pre diabetes
  • Orange Juice - made up almost entirely of sugar and artificial coloring
  • Bacon - high in saturated fat
  • Sausage - fat, salt, and other 'leftover' meats
  • Muffins - extremely high calorie content
  • Store Bought Frosting/Icing - huge amounts of fat, sugar, and calories
  • French Fries - contain acrylamide, created by the amino acids in potatoes
  • Candy - saturated fats
  • Potatoes - suffer the effects of pesticides more than a lot of other vegetables
  • Frozen Pizza - huge amounts of sodium
  • Cereal - massive amounts of sugar and low in fiber and protein
  • Corn Syrup - worse than sugar and more dangerous to your health
  • Jam - contains sodium benzoate, a chemical preservative
  • Smoothies - enormous amounts of fat and sugar
  • Whipped Cream - the canned variety contains hydrogenated oil and water
  • Red Meat -  chances increase of getting colorectal cancer
  • Ham - nitrates and high salt content
