NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Police in New Orleans say six arrests have been made in connection with a shooting that killed an 11-year-old girl last year.

Arabian Gayles was fatally injured when someone opened fire on her New Orleans home early on the morning of Sept. 2, 2013. Another 11-year-old girl and a 38-year-old man were wounded.

New Orleans police chief Michael Harrison and District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro announced six indictments in the case Thursday.

Police said three people were taken into custody Thursday and three people already jailed in unrelated cases were charged.

One person arrested Thursday and three who were already locked up were charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Two others arrested Thursday were charged as accessories.

Police said all six suspects have been linked to gangs.
