75-Year-Old Lafayette Woman Killed In Wednesday Morning Crash

LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A 75-year-old woman is dead following a crash on Ambassador Caffery earlier Wednesday morning.

Carolyn Ward was killed after the Buick sedan in which she was riding crashed into a Toyota truck while trying to make a left turn onto Settler's Trace from Ambassador Caffery, according to Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton.

Mouton said the driver and other passengers passengers in the Buick reported only minor injuries, while no injuries were reported in the truck.

Ward was taken to an area hospital where she later died, Mouton said.

The driver of the ticket was cited for failing to yield to the truck, Mouton said.

The crash remains under investigation.
