8 teams from the Acadiana area remain alive, as the LHSAA playoffs heads into action during Thanksgiving weekend.

5 private schools will be participating in semifinal round play on this weekend, while 3 more public schools will be looking to advance from the quarterfinal bracket.

In Division II, the 2nd-seeded St. Thomas More Cougars will host the 6th-seeded Teurlings Catholic Rebels, with a trip to the state title game on December 4 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on the line.

The will be a rematch of a game played back on October 23, in which Teurlings was victorious, 42-28.

St. Thomas More is 9-2 on the season, while Teurlings currently stands at 9-3.

In Division III, the Notre Dame Pioneers will travel to Hammond to face the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons.

The game, which will be played at Strawberry Stadium, on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, will be a match-up of unbeaten.

In Division IV, there's still a possibility that two Acadiana area schools will lay against one another in the title game, both top-seeded Ascension Episcopal and second-seeded Vermilion Catholic are still alive and well.

Ascension Episcopal (11-1) will host 4th-seeded St. Mary Natchitoches (12-0), while Vermilion Catholic (11-1) will host 6th-seeded Southern Lab (8-3).

The two winners will square off for the state title on December 4.

 

In Class 3A, two teams from the Acadiana area remain, as the 9th-seeded Kaplan Pirates (9-3) will host the top-seeded Lutcher Bulldogs (11-1), while the 7th-seeded Northwest Raiders (10-2) will take on the 15th-seeded St. James Wildcats (8-4).

Both of these are quarterfinals games.

Finally, in Class 4A, the 2nd-seeded Crowley Gents (12-0) will play host to the 10th-seeded Franklinton Demons (9-3).
