The 9th Annual 'jeep jaunt' rolled through Acadiana Sunday, raising awareness of lung disease for the American Lung Association.
Hundreds of Jeeps and other 4x4s gathered at Celebrity Theaters in Broussard, lining up in anticipation of the trek to Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel.
People from as far north as Texarkana, as far south as Cut Off; east from Covington and as far west as Lake Charles came together to help raise over $60,000 for the American Lung Association.
Dozens of businesses and individuals donated door prize and auction items, everything from Jeep and 4x4 accessories to ice chests, furniture, apparel and even beverages to help raise money for the cause.
The 'jaunters' left the theater parking lot shortly after 9:30, taking Highway 90 to Darnall Road in New Iberia. From that point, the group made their way to Highway 87, all the way down to the Chitimacha Tribe's Reservation and, ultimately, Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel.
Partnering with AJRF (the 'jeep jaunt's parent organization): Sterling Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram, Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel, KATC TV3, Celebrity Theaters, Hulco Printers and Townsquare Media (parent company of this radio station).
Other sponsors included Light Line of Louisiana, Smokey Hebert's Snap-On Tools, and Hulco Printers.
