A Breaux Bridge woman who was a passenger in a car that flipped over just before getting to the area of Egan has now died from injuries she received during that June 30 crash.

Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Brooks David says the driver of Jeep
Wrangler veered off of the side of the road, and the vehicle flipped over between Interstate Ten and Bocage Road.

The driver, 55-year-old Patrick Stelly of Arnaudville, was not hurt, but 46-year-old Lana Hickman of Breaux Bridge was not wearing a seat belt.

David says Hickman was thrown out of the Jeep Wrangler when it flipped, and she died from her injuries yesterday.

State Police say they have ruled out another vehicle's involvement in the crash, but they do suspect impairment is a factor in what happened. Routine toxicology tests are still being run.

Though Stelly was cited for driving while impaired, David says other charges are pending in the case.
