Ascension Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating the theft of copper wiring from nearly a dozen A/C units at Lake Elementary School in St. Amant. A hole was cut into the fence on the side of the campus according to Officer Johnnie Balfantz. Balfantz says 11 different units were broken into, including eight 5-ton units, and three 15-ton units which control the air and humidity in the gym, band hall, and a number of classrooms.. The damage is estimated to be from $5,000 - $10,000. The copper wire  stolen is worth less than $500 dollars according to Balfantz.
