The City of Abbeville has amended it's policy on the use of social media and has paid $32,900 to settle a suit filed by the ACLU. The lawsuit challenged the Abbeville Police Department's policy that prohibits employees from making negative comments on social media. According to our news partner KATC Sgt. Colt Landry made comments on his private Facebook page about conditions at the department for which he was subsequently disciplined.

Even though the City of Abbeville did not admit fault they did pay $2,500 to Landry and $30,900 to the ACLU Foundation of Louisiana and attorney William Goode.
