ABBEVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- Firefighters in Abbeville are working a major fire at the Farmer's Co-op right now.

According to firefighters on the way to the scene, smoke can be seen as far away as Maurice.

There also appears to be some type of evacuation order that includes four blocks on all sides of the fire, according to witness accounts on the phone.

Witnesses near the fire say several fire departments are trying to put the blaze out, including firefighters from Indian Bayou and Lafayette. Some of those witnesses have flooded the phone lines. One caller called KPEL's sister station, 99.9 KTDY.

"There [were] two explosions," she said. "There was one..a little while after the first started, and then one probably about ten minutes ago."

We'll keep you updated when more information becomes available.
