Abbeville Man Arrested After Trying To Stab Deputy

Even though he wouldn't give arresting officers his name, 55 year old Clarence Mitchell Jr. is jailed. Abbeville Police were called out to the CVS Pharmacy on Veteran's Drive this weekend where they found Mitchell cursing and causing a disturbance. Mitchell allegedly stole merchandise in front of the officers and when officers attempted to arrest Mitchell he allegedly tried to stab one of the officers with a pair of scissors. According to our news partner KATC Mitchell was charged with misdemeanor theft, disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, aggravated battery, threatening a public official, illegal carrying of weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.
