A 43-year-old Abbeville man is dead and two others are injured after an early morning crash on Highway 90 at Verot School Road.

Troopers say just before 5:30 this morning, 30-year-old Hilmar Estrada of Bunker was driving an 18 wheeler on Highway 90 coming up to Verto School Road.

At the same time 43-year-old Billy Meaux of Abbeville and Billy Bourque of Lafayette were each approaching the intersection and preparing to turn left onto Highway 90, when State Police say Estrada failed to stop at the red stop light.  His 18 wheeler his both cars and then flipped over.

Estrada and Bourque were both wearing seatbelts, but did receive moderate injuries from the crash.

Meaux was also restrained, but was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner.

Toxicology samples and they will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Estrada has been cited for failing to stop for a red signal.
