Saturday night at 9:45, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a fatal crash on U.S Highway 90 west of Welsh in Jefferson Davis Parish that claimed the life of an Abbeville man.
According to troopers, 21-year-old Christian R. Dubois of Abbeville, was traveling east on U.S. 90 when, for unknown reasons, the Chevrolet Lumina he was driving traveled off the south edge of the roadway and continued east about 100 feet before striking a mailbox.  The vehicle then traveled across both lanes of the highway and then rolled over several times before stopping.

Dubois, was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle. Another vehicle that was traveling west on U.S. 90 then ran over Dubois’s body.  The driver of the second vehicle stopped and subsequently submitted a chemical sample which indicated no alcohol in his system.  He was not charged and the crash remains under investigation.  A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Dubois for analysis.
