Abbeville Man Facing Drug Charges

ABBEVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- Police arrested an Abbeville man after receiving several complaints of illicit drug activity at his home.

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, officers talking to residents at the home on Hwy. 35 smelled a "strong odor of marijuana."

Police were granted permission to search the home, Couvillon said. Officers found nearly a pound of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia and a small handgun.

Officers arrested 41-year-old Dale Luquette and charged him with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
