Man Booked In Abbeville Rape

A man accused of raping an Abbeville woman is now in jail. Abbeville Police say it happened yesterday morning when the victim was trying to get a drink from the soda machine in front of an area business. The victim says she was called over to the side of that building by Clinton Chewning, a person she recognized. A white male the produced a gun, and Chewning forced himself on the victim. Chewning is now in the Vermillion Parish Correctional Center on charges of aggravated rape.
