In a major production and marketing move, Abita Beer announces it will begin offering three of its flagship brews in cans for the first time. The new cans will be offered in six and 12 packs and are expected to be available in store early in 2012. Abita Brewing Company President David Blossman says advances in can technology made the switch easier. He says the new liners insulate better, the cans are recycled making them environmentally friendly, and because they're lighter they can be shipped with less fuel and lower emissions. He says they also do a great job of protecting the product.
Blossman says Abita Amber, Purple Haze and Jockamo I.P.A. should be in stores early next year. He says when they started setting a time table for the project they decided to shoot for having product in stores in time for Mardi Gras.
