Police in Acadia Parish have made an arrest in connection with a badly decomposed body found near Hawks Road and Providence Highway Thursday evening, May 30.

Henry Roberto Dubon of Crowley was arrested and charged with first degree murder, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon.

Police say they have identified the body as 31-year-old Tomas Mendoza of Honduras. His body was found by a boy riding a four-wheeler in a wooded area near Rayne.

Melancon says Mendoza died as the result of multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

Melancon says some cash was stolen from Mendoza, and Dubon faces an unrelated aggravated assault charge.

Dubon is currently in the Acadia Parish Jail.
