The tourism office in St. Martinville is announcing the cancellation of the Acadian Memorial Heritiage Festival and Wooden Boat Congres tomorrow Saturday, March 21 due to predictions of thunderstorms.

Since the festival is an on-the-water event, they have decided, for safety reasons, to cancel the day's activities.

While the group does not plan to reschedule the festival, there will be associated events throughout the year.  They do plan to hold a re-enactment of the arrival of the Acadians at some point this year.

They say there are two things to look forward to.

They will hold the Grand Reveil Acadien in St. Martinville on October 8, 2015.

They also plan to hold the Acadian Memorial Festival next year.  They have it planned for March 19, 2016.
