Let's define "big money" shall we? For me "big money" is anything over $10,000 and if you'll allow my definition to stand then several families in Acadiana had a "big money" holiday miracle.

Before your blood pressure gets too high and you have to start breathing into a paper bag while you go hunt for your tickets let me just say the winning tickets sold in  South Louisiana did not take the top prize in Powerball or Mega Millions. Those games currently have jackpots at $440 million and $343 million respectively.

However, Louisiana Lottery officials can confirm that a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Piggly Wiggly in Opelousas for the December 27th drawing. That ticket matched four of the five regular numbers and the Powerball. There was also a $50,000 winning ticket sold in Youngsville at Nunu's Fresh Market. That ticket was a winner in the December 16th drawing.

Not to be outdone the Mega Millions game is boasting a $20,000 prize winner from the December 26th drawing. That ticket was sold at Gras Inc 2 on West Main Street in Ville Platte.  That ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball.

The next drawing in the Mega Millions game will come tonight, January 2nd just before 10 PM. The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, January 3rd at the same time.

Good luck and play responsibly if you choose to play.
