-J.P. Morgan led the Dow blue-chip's as it added 1.8% to $40.35; Leading the blue chip decliners was Alcoa falling 2.5% and GE dropping 2.1%
 
-News Corp shares fell 3.1 percent after the FBI said it would probe allegations that the company hacked into the phone records of victims of the September 11 attacks on the United States.
 
-Gold settling again at a new record of 1,589/ounce.
