-Google's earnings beat the most bullish forecasts, driving its stock up 13 percent to $597.62.
 
-BHP Billiton, one of the largest global mining companies, plans to buy Petrohawk Energy for more than $12 billion.
 
-Crude-oil closed at $97.24 a barrel.
 
-And, Gold capped a 9 day winning streak, settling at 1,590/ounce.
