-Wall Street surged as blue chip stocks have their best day of 2011. 

 
-The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 202 points to 12,587
 
-Enthusiasm over earnings results from IBM and Coke, coupled with some optimism toward a potential US deficit-reduction plan, help drive stocks to their highest levels in more than a week.
IBM alone accounted for 75 points of the Dow's gains.
