-The affirmation was no surprise, as Moody's indicated it would maintain the country's Aaa rating as long as it raised the debt ceiling in time to avoid missing loan payments.

 

-Crude-oil prices fell to settle at $91.93/ barrel.

 

-Gold futures rose to settle just below $1,670 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, notching another record high as continued anxiety kept money flowing into precious metals.
