Acadiana Company Chosen To Build Patrol Boats For Vietnam

Upon a tour of a Vietnamese patrol boat damaged last year in a skirmish against a Chinese vessel, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has vowed to assist the Vietnamese defend its waters in the South China Sea.

Our news partner KATC reported the U.S. government will provide $18 million to help Vietnam buy Metal Shark patrol boats that are manufactured in Acadiana. According to U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany, the boats are being provided to bolster Vietnam's naval defense capabilities.
