If you love to film, and you love Festival International, then Acadiana Open Channel is looking for you.

AOC Community Media records all the performances from Festival International's main stage for the festival from April 15th through the 28th.

For the past 26 years of Festival, AOC has depended on volunteers to bring the festival experience to those watching on AOC.  You can catch the festival performances on Cox Communications 15 and 16 along with LUS Fiber's channels 3 and 4.

Ed Bowie, AOC executive director, says volunteers are so important:

“Yes, joining any festival’s film crew is an incredible experience. But the fact that this year we are recording the Best World Music Festival is something any music or video production lover should not miss. We’ve known Festival International is the best of the best all along, so it’s only natural that AOC records and then shares Festival year round with Acadiana residents.”

There are a variety of volunteering jobs that are available including:

  • camera operators
  • cable pullers
  • directors
  • production assistants

AOC says they will take volunteer as a beginner, as experts or anywhere in between. They will hold a mandatory volunteer training meeting on Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. at AOC. Practices will also be held throughout April before the festival begins.

Volunteers must be current AOC members. Annual memberships range from $25-$35. Individuals can join AOC or renew their memberships at www.aocinc.org.
