Remember when you were in school, and you just felt like you couldn't wait for the end of the school year so you could be free? Well, no doubt students in several Acadiana parishes are counting down the time until that final bell rings.

For Iberia Parish public school students, their final bell rang last Thursday, May 19, so they are likely already board since school has only been out for a few days.  For other students, today is the final day, but for still some others, they will have to make it all the way through Thursday, May 26.

Here are the following parishes, and the days that students will have their final classes:

Acadia Parish - The last day of school is Thursday, May 26.

Lafayette Parish - The last day of school is Tuesday, May 24.

St. Landry Parish - The last day of school is Wednesday, May 25.

St. Martin - The last day of school is today, Monday, May 23!

St. Mary Parish - The last day of school is Thursday, May 26.

Vermilion Parish - The last day of school is Wednesday, May 25.

So whether it's fishing, swimming or vegging out in front of the boob tube, one thing is for sure, I can hear Alice Cooper in the background singing, "schools out for summer".

I admit it makes me a little giddy, like I will get several months off from work, sleep late, go to camp, watch movies all night long, but then....I wake up!
