(KPEL) -- The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Conservatory of Music has issued an apology for Wednesday night's Fourth of July fireworks show.

Jenny Krueger, the group's executive director, says the rains yesterday afternoon damaged the electronic boards responsible for controlling the pyrotechnics. Because of that damage, the fireworks show "did not take place as planned," Krueger says.

"The Acadiana Symphony & Conservatory of Music is currently working with our contracted pyrotechnicians to correct this problem so that next year we will have the fireworks display we all have come to expect and enjoy," Krueger says.

"Thank you, Acadiana," Krueger says, "for your support in making our Red, White and BOOM event...a tremendous success this year."
