Accrediting Group To Investigate Louisiana College
ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools plans to open an investigation into LouisianaCollege in Pineville.
The Town Talk reports the probe follows allegations that officials at the private Baptist college submitted documents that contained forged signatures to the higher education accrediting agency as it was considering whether to remove the school from warning status.
The allegations came to light last week in documents obtained by The Town Talk, including a letter from a former LouisianaCollege attorney.
Michael Johnson, senior vice president and chief of staff at the accrediting association, told The Town Talk that the agency will investigate.
In response to a request for comment the college issued a statement Friday saying it had not received official notification of an inquiry.
