Accused Attempted Robber Caught Robbing BJ’s Pizza

The man Lafayette Police were looking for accused of trying to rob a pharmacy in a medical building on Kaliste Saloom Road was caught today after trying to rob BJ's Pizza on Congress Street. Authorities say Shawn Richard went into the restaurant, asked the clerk for change, then took out a knife and demanded money. As Richard reached for the money, the clerk closed the register on his hand. He ran out of the restaurant but was chased down in the 200 block of Ella by its employees. Richard faces charges in both robbery attempts.
