28-year-old Toby Breaux has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on numerous charges after allegedly trying to get away from Scott City Police.

Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says Breaux is accused of stealing fishing equipment valued at over $3,000.00 from a home, which Breaux later admitted to, according to authorities. Chief Leger says when officers went to Breaux's last known address on Elizabeth Street on Tuesday they noticed his vehicle there but no one inside the home. Leger says a short time later an officer noticed Breaux drive away in his vehicle.

Police say they tried to stop Breaux but he refused to comply. Officers say they were eventually able to block in his vehicle and arrest him.

Toby Breaux faces the following charges:

  •     Reckless Operation of Motor Vehicle
  •     Aggravated Flight from an Officer
  •     Operating a Vehicle while License Suspended
  •     Simple Burglary
