A new state law that bans sex offenders from using social networking sites is facing a challenge in court.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana filed a lawsuit yesterday, claiming the law is overly broad and restrictive.  According to the ACLU, the law goes beyond barring easy target sites like Facebook and MySpace and could prohibit the use of newspaper websites, email services and job search sites.  A spokesperson for Governor Bobby Jindal says he will fight the challenge with "everything he has."
